Pimp your water! Which oils work well with a humble glass of water

Here at Essentially Yours, we are committed to helping our community out with the best tips, tricks and methods that we love when it comes to your essential oil collection. Around for hundreds of years, essential oils are 100% natural and can be used for your wellbeing and general health, as well as a plethora of other things (cleaning, arts and crafts, beauty). In this blog, we are going to be sharing with you which four oils work well with a glass of water.

Before we dive in, please make sure that the essential oils you own are safe to be ingested, and are 100% natural and organic (not mixed with any nasties) and are stored in glass bottles! This is to ensure that toxins from the plastic cannot seep into the oil, and you are only ingesting oil that is completely natural.

To create the perfect blend for you, we recommend working with a trained herbalist who can decipher the best blend for you (as our taste buds and digestive system all different) and you may be sensitive to some oils more than others.

Lemon Essential Oil
Tangy, zesty and tart

Perfect if you want to wake yourself up in the morning, Lemon Essential Oil has a powerful, citrusy aroma that can work well in both a glass of water, or in a herbal tea to give it a sharper edge. A personal favourite here at Essentially!

Peppermint Essential Oil
Cooling, refreshing and clean

Who doesn’t love the taste and scent of mint? Refreshing and clean, Mint always makes us feel fresh - doesn’t it! So, if you’re feeling groggy and need a cooling glass of water, get some Peppermint Essential Oil in the mix!

Orange Essential Oil
Warming, sweet and acidic

Whether used in conjunction with another oil (Grapefruit tastes great), the taste of orange is a warming and tangy flavour that we believe can be drunk any time of day. Refreshing, tropical and delicious!

Grapefruit Essential Oil
Bitter, sharp and sour

Whether you love or hate the fruit, there’s something delicious about the sourness of a grapefruit whilst smelling its intense fragrance. Great to refresh yourself and spike your energy mid-afternoon!

Can I blend my essential oils?

Of course! Although we would only recommend essential oils that are safe for ingestion. For example, blends that can work well:

  • Lemon and Mint
  • Orange and Grapefruit
  • Grapefruit and Mint
  • Lemon and Orange

You can also use essential oils in herbal tea, warm water or flavoured water should you wish to do so.

As always, if you have any blends or methods in which you can ingest essential oils, please do not hesitate to reach out to a member of the Essentially Yours team, as we are always interested to hear your suggestions!
