Prepared Blend

Though generally troublesome through teenage years, hormonal changes can also cause this distressing condition. Some never seem to be able to clear their complexion. Essentially Me does have a remedy that has seen success for many. Diet, exercise, drinking water and management of stress also play a part in clearing acne.

Prepared Treatments Essentially Me has a Herbal Healing Day Oil. It includes all ingredients listed at left. It is to be used morning and midday. 3-4 drops of blend into the palm of your hand is all that is needed avoiding eyes. Blackheads Tea Tree, geranium

cypress, palmarosa, witch hazel hydrosol

Oils

Steaming is an effective method for blackhead removal.

Blend Treatment: Fill a bowl 3/4 full with boiling water. Add 1 drop of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of geranium essential oil on the water. Cover your head with a towel to form a tent over the bowl and steam face for 10 minutes. Make sure that you keep face above water by at least 30cm.  Pat dry. To remove the blackheads, ensure your fingernails are covered with cottonwool (wrap them thinly) and gently press on either side of blackhead until it pops out, or use a little blackhead tool (purchase at Pharmacy).  Finally, splash skin with an astringent lotion. A good astringent can be made as follows: 2 tablespoons of distilled water, 2 teaspoons witch hazel hydrosol (see our natural skin care range) 2 drops cypress and 1 drop palmarosa essential oils. Put all ingredients into bottle, shake well and allow to synergise for 4 days for oils to react together. Place a little onto a cottonwool pad and pat skin.

Blisters Lavender , Tea Tree

Oils

Don't break the blister. If you must break it, use a sterilised needle (sterilise using a flame), then press skin flat and apply a drop of lavender essential oil and a dressing (eg bandaid).

Blend Treatment: Apply 2 drops neat of EITHER Lavender or Tea Tree essential oils. Pat in gently.

Boils Bergamot, Lavender, Tea Tree

Oils

The treatment for boils aims to bring them to a head and allow the pus to escape and the area to heal. Professional help should be sought should a fever develop or red lines expand out from the boil itself. Boils are very contagious. Boils are a staphylococcal infection.
Note: Avoid handling and preparing food while infection present and wash all clothing or articles that have come in contact with boil. In fact you can add a few drops of tea tree oil or lavender oil to the wash and rinse cycles.


Blend Treatment: Using warm, boiled water (3 tablespoons) that has added to it 2 drops bergamot essential oil and 3 drops lavender essential oil, wash the boil and area around boil 3 times a day. Use a cotton wool ball. Twice a day apply a formentation (a very hot compress using the above blend (a hot compress uses a cotton cloth to soak up mixture and is held against skin (ensuring it is comfortable) and kept in place until pain is eased. Between applications and washing keep boil covered with a non stick dressing on which 2 drops of tea tree essential oil has been sprinkled.

Bruises Geranium, Lavender, Grape Seed Oil

Oils

Bruises need a cold application against them. Frozen peas or ice cubes are effective but must be wrapped in a cloth.  Hold on areas for a few minutes at a time.

Blend Treatment: Massage area with a blend of 4 drops of EITHER geranium or lavender essential oils in 1 teaspoon of grape seed oil.

Burns Lavender

Oils

For minor burns/scalds only. The heat from the burn needs to be reduced. This can effectively be done by running cold water over the area or application of cold compresses for 10 minutes.

Blend Treatment: Dab lavender essential oil OR honey on the burn area. Repeat this at intervals of 10 - 15 minutes if required. Seek urgent medical attention for moderate to severe burns and never remove stuck clothing.

Dermatitis See Eczema Dermatitis can be caused by irritant substances and hairdressers often suffer with this. The cause needs to be identified.

Eczema Anti stress essential oils: Cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, geranium, juniper, lavender

Detoxifying essential oils: Juniper

Anti-inflammatory essential oils: Chamomile, lavender, lemon, myrrh

Healing essential oils: Calendula infused oil, carrot seed, rosehip

Prepared Blend

Eczema can be identified by the weeping, itchy, inflammed skin that can have tiny blisters apparent. It is a difficult skin condition and the cause needs to be determined. This condition can be caused by many things: stress, allergies, poor diet, low immune system or toxins. A number of oils can be used. As different blends of oils will suit different conditions of eczema Essentially Me has prepared Eczema 1, 2 and 3 blends. We hope that one of these is ideal for your condition.

Prepared Treatments are available and use a combination of 2 oils from each group on left. Each blend uses a different combination from the list to enable you to find the blend that suits you.

Heat Rash Eucalyptus, Lavender, Witch Hazel hydrosol.

Prepared Blend

Hot weather causes this condition. It is an itchy rash and usually develops because skin has not been able to breathe or sweat has not been able to escape. Wear loose cotton clothing.

Prepared Anti-Itch Spray: The most effective treatment is a cooling spray. Eucalyptus and lavender is blended with witch hazel hydrosol and applied as a cooling anti-itch spray.

Herpes Lavender, melissa, myrrh, tea tree

Oils

Herpes simplex is a virus herpes that is responsible for painful blisters that turn into sores on the lips (cold sores), vulva, anus and buttocks. It is recurring and generally triggered by stress, overexposure to sun and being run down or having an infection. The idea is to boost the immune system and alleviate stress to contain outbreaks.

Blend Treatment: Dab 1 drop of one neat essential oil chosen from oils at left. If blisters are on the vulva or the anus then you should use 3 drops of tea tree oil to 1 tspn unscented gel/lotion, mixing well. Apply externally only using a cotton bud or cotton wool ball.

Bites & Stings Tea Tree, lavender

Oils

If you plan on gardening or any outdoor activity during bitey season, ensure you carry a bottle of lavender or tea tree oil with you.

Blend Treatment: Lavender is useful for insect and mosquito bites. Simply apply neat lavender to the bite until pain is relieved.  For Wasp stings use 8 drops of lavender essential oil to 1 teaspoon of vinegar.  Dab on sting. This counteracts the alkaline poison of the sting and reduces pain and swelling - repear hourly.

Itching Bergamot, chamomile, lavender, myrrh, tea tree.

Oils

Pruritis Ani or itching of the anus or vulva is most embarassing! Antibiotics, soap residual, reaction to toilet paper and synthetic fibres can cause this annoying condition.  The area here is warm, dark and moist and this creates a foundation for the breeding of fungi and bacteria. Avoid tight clothing around crotch.

Blend Treatment: You can either prepare an anti-itch wash or massage oil blend. Anti-itch wash is made by combining 1 drop tea tree essential oil, 1 drop of lavender essential oil and 1 cup of water.  Combine and shake before using. Alternatively the massage oil can be applied to areas after going to toilet or after showering. For massage blend use 1 tablespoon of grape seed oil, 6 drops of lavender essential oil and 6 drops of chamomile or bergamot essential oil.

Nappy Rash Lavender, chamomile, tea tree

Oils

Gently wash baby's bottom with warm water which has had drops of tea tree oil added to it (2 drops of tea tree essential oil to every 2 cups of warm water). Ensure this has been mixed well before using. Dry gently and use Nappy Rash Powder made as follows: The nappy rash powder is excellent for healing or prevting nappy rash but do not overuse. Just a light dusting is all that is needed.

Power Recipe: 2 cups of cornflower, 20 drops of lavender essential oil, 2 tablespoons zinc oxide powder (available from pharmacies).  Combine the cornflour and zinc oxide powder. Add the lavender essential oil 1 drop at a time constantly stirring to prevent clumping. As the oil needs to permeat the powder it needs to stand for 4 days in an airtight container. Shake before use.

Prickly Heat See Heat Rash

Psoriasis Sweet Almond Oil, Borage Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Lavender, bergamot, rosemary, tea tree

Prepared Blend

What a horrible condition this is. These thick, scaly pink patches of cells look like silvery scales and usually appear on elbows, knees. It is difficult to treat. Causes can be stress, an underfunctioning liver . Stress management is required as well as our ointment which has been successful for some customers.

Prepared Blend: Essentially Me have a cream and an oil solution. We recommend the cream throughout the day and the oil at night.

Ringworm Tea tree, myrrh, lavender, Olive Oil.

Oils

Highly contagious! This is an itchy rash and is identified easily as the rash appears in the shape of a red ring. Easily spread so take additional care with hygiene and wash all clothing, towels, sheets etc.

Blend Treatment: Dab each ringworm with EITHER neat tea tree, lavender or myrrh essential oil several times a day. You could also swap oils which may provide greater effectiveness. Once the ringworm is no longer moist massage the area with equal parts of Tea tree, Lavender and Olive Oil.  The olive oil is to prevent the skin from drying out too much.

Scar Tissue and scarring Frankincense, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Lavender

Prepared Blend

Scarring is something we all try to avoid or repair if we can. Scarring can be caused through acne, wounds or rashes. Essentially Me has created a wonderful scar tissue oil that with patience will bring rewards!

Prepared Blend: Our blend is made up of each of the oils at left as well as Vitamin E oil and wheatgerm oil. Well worth the purchase.

Shingles Bergamot, chamomile, eucalyptus, lavender, tea tree.

Oils

This is caused by the chickenpox virus which lives on in the nerve cells in a dormant state after the initial infection has cleared. It is suddenly activated in the form of shingles at times when the immune system is low and stress is prevalent. Because it comes through nerve endings the pain is severe. Blisters are prevalent (similar to chickenpox but bigger).  If blisters are on or near the eyes it is imperative that medical attention is sought quickly.

Blend Treatment: Blend 50/50 proportions of neat tea tree and lavender essential oils and dab onto the blisters. You could also use a cold compress to ease the pain. Use bergamot and chamomile OR bergamot and eucalyptus essential oils in the compress. A compress is used by adding 10 drops of each essential oil (as indicated here) to 100 ml of cold water (stir oils together) and using a cotton cloth to soak up the water and oils. Apply the cloth to the area, leaving on until the cloth becomes warm and then repeating. The cloth must be very moist but not dripping.

Stretch Marks Vitamine E Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Avocado Oil, wheat germ oil, mandarin, palamrosa and lavender essential oils.

Prepared Blend

Use this blend morning and night as your tummy begins to grow. This prepared oil by Essentially Me is massaged into the skin and should be used twice daily if possible. All oils are safe during pregnancy.

Sunburn Lavender, chamomile

Australians should be well educated in how to avoid sunburn however each summer we inevitably fry ourselves. This application will soothe sunburn.

Blend Treatment: Sumberge your body in a cool deep bath up to the neck. Add 10 drops of EITHER chamomile or lavender essential oil (for young children use lavender) to 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and disperse into the water. Stay in bath for 15-30 minutes. After patting gently dry apply our Sunburn Blend all over the burnt skin. Ensure that you are gentle when applying this as sunburn is painful!!! If there are blisters you can apply neat lavender essential oil - dab gently.

Prepared Blend: Essentially Me has a great sunburn blend for after sun soothing. It contains grape seed oil, lavender essential oil and aloe vera gel. All homes should have this in their medical kit.

Warts Tea tree, lemon, calendula infused oil.

Oils

Caused by a virus. If you suffer a great number of warts it is an indication that your immune system is low. See our immune boosting health blends and wellness wash.

Blend Treatment: The treatment is relatively easy. Generously dab 1 drop of EITHER tea tree essential oil OR lemon essential oil directly onto the wart. Smother the wart by covering with a sticking plaster. Repeat at least twice per day until the wart has gone.  The skin may become dry after this treatment so this when you can rub a little calendula infused oil into the area. Calendula oil is a healing oil.
