The Basic Essential Oil Care Kit

Lavender, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Rosemary, Lemon

Lavender - assists in many important jobs and is wonderful to use. Every home should have a bottle of lavender.  It is extremely effective in the treatment of burns and scalds.  It is a natural antibiotic, antiseptic, anti-depressant, sedative and detoxifier.  It promotes healing and prevents scarring and boost the immune system also aiding in regeneration of cell growth.  Lavender is a mood tonic and it helps to deal with shock and injury.  It is indispensable.

Tea Tree - Used by the aborigines for centuries, this indigenous Australian tree is antiseptic and proclaimed to be one hundred times more powerful than carbolic acid YET it is non-poisonous to humans.  It is the subject of international reserach and its impressive anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties make it useful in many conditions. For example, tea tree is used in candida, infections, ringwork treatment, sunburn, acne, athlete's foot, toothace and pyorrhoea and the list goes on.

Peppermint - This essential oil has extremely useful healt promoting properties. Fabulous for digestive problems and as would be expected useful in respiratory and cirulation areas. It is a wonderful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Some of the areas where peppermint is used are in the treatment of indigestion, flatulence, bad breath, flu, catarrh, varicose veins, headaches and migraines, skin irritations, rheumatism, toothache, fatigue and believe it or not it helps to keep mice, fleas and ants away!

Chamomile - In the treatment of nervous conditions and insomnia the German Chamomile variety is excellent however Chamomile Maroc is not a true chamomile and so be careful in using this variety. Chamomile is most valued for its anti-inflammatory properties and is useful for internal conditions such as rheumatism (try our German Chamomile and Apple Tea).  It is a useful oil to have on hand if you have children as it is a wonderful calming oil for nerves. It is used in the treatment of burns, sunburn, psoriasis, eczema, asthma, hay fever, diarrhoea, sprains and strains, nausea, fever and most depresseive states. Also, chamomile has been used to help conditions such as anorexia nervosa with great success.  Often used in natural skin care.

Eucalyptus - Originally founded as far back as 1788 by 'modern' man, distilled Eucalyptus piperata was useful for treating chest problems and colic. The Blue Mountains of New South Wales Australia are so called because of the blue haze that exudes from the resin of the eucalyptus gum and blankets the entire area. Naturally this is a very aromatic environment. Eucalyptus cools the body and as such is often used in foot massage preparations for its cooling properties and its anti-inflammatory properties.  It is a wonderful antiseptic, antibiotic, diuretic, analgesic and deodoriser. Research supports its anti-viral properties. Great for coughs and colds but effective in treatment of cystitis, candida, diabetes and sunburn. Also used widely in veterinarian care and as an insect repellent. There are many varieties of Eucalyptus but they are all quite good.

Geranium - This essential oil has many wonderful uses most prominently though it works on the emotions and smells fantastic. Geranium will make chillblains disappear overnight and is widely used in natural skin care products as it promotes a 'glow'to the skin. Geranium is an essential component in treating endometriosis, menopause problems and fabulous as a nerve tonic or sedative. It is often used to help patients relax and to cope with pain.  Other applications range from frostbite to infertility. Rosemary - a stimulant oil it is useful for use in the morning shower and also a great oil to use after a long tiring day when you need to be pepped up for a night out.  Rosemary is also widely used for muscular aches, sprains, arthritis, rheumatism, depression, fatigue, memory loss, migraine, headaches, coughs, flue and diabetes. This should be an oil that is kept on hand in the household where there is a sportsman, cook and gardener or anyone needing reinvigorating to keep going.

Lemon - what a wonderful essential oil for use as a water-purifier.  It has antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties and is valuable in the treatment of verrucas, insect bites and tension headaches. It has a tonic action on the lymphatic system, stimulating action on the digestive system and will assist in helping to disperse cellulite, assist in your slimming and keep wrinkles away.
